Fashion Haunts Magazine got a chance to sit down with a exclusive interview with Christopher Valiante creator of Blöke NYC and talk directly to him about his up coming wedding to his partner Victor Coimbra.
FHM: So Christopher let's start out with the easy questions first cause trust me I’m ready to “go there” with you! CV: Oh boy! Ok shoot. FHM: So date and location was a secret: Times up! Let our readers know the details. CV: Ha! Ok soooo the date will be March 7, 2020 and the wedding is actually 3 parts. The entire wedding will be held on the campus of Felician College in Rutherford NJ. FHM: So Christopher, Tell us about Victor! And tell us what will happen to Blöke in the future. CV: Wow that’s a lot! (Sigh) Before Victor I took almost three years off from dating. I was completely over it and wanted to concentrate on my career. I met Victor and we decided to go out to lunch to a Brazilian restaurant in Ironbound because as you know victor is Brazilian. After that we walked through the cherry trees and we kissed and it was like getting slapped in the face. I dropped him off at his place and drove home and just started to laugh and said to myself, oh crap this is it, this is the guy you’re going to marry. FHM: Seriously just like that you knew right away? CV: Yup right away. And I guess I was right because “here we are!” Lol ABOVE: CADENCE AND ALEXA WEARING UN DEUX TROIS FALL DRESSES!

Kingsland Manor with model Sabrina Olivia photos by Looking Glass Photography Dress by Diana Mahrach, Muah: Brittany Weyhrauch The Kingsland Manor is a 18th Century town-owned property that was originally a farm house built by to brothers John and James Walls around 1768 for James and his wife Mary. The brothers ran a lumber mill near the mud hole in North Belleville, now Nutley. In 1787 Joseph Kingsland, a contractor, had updated the farmhouse by raising the ceilings and plastering the walls and moved his family from Greenwich st. to the manor in 1796. Three additional generations of Kingslands lived in the house and ran the lumber and paper mills until 1909 when the last Kingslands sold the Manor to Daniel McGinnity. His son Bernard Charles "Bus" ran a speakeasy in the basement under our ballroom duing prohibition. His mother Katherine Agnes, ran the manor as a hospital during the thirties. It was sold in 1938 to an air traffic controller, Ralph smith, who lived there until 1944 when it as purchased by ITT as a home for their vice-president, L John Denny. In 1958, to antique dealers purchased the home and lived there until 1972. The town received Green Acres funds to purchase the Manor and land creating the Kingsland Park and the Historic Restoration Trust of Nutley. The Manor is open for visits on the third Sunday of each month as well as special events throughout the year. We are also available for special tours and invite you all to visit the Kingsland Manor. Each October, we host paranormal investigations of the Kinglsand Manor by Matt Haas and his Island Paranormal Society investigative team. "Bus" McGinnity is a regular visitor during these investigations but he is not the only spirit who haunts our Manor. Steve Shepps, son of Norman and Doris Shepps, who played in the basement makes frequent during these investigations. K2 meter hits, Oculus responses and EVPs provide thrilling evidence of a very active site. More activity is discovered here with every new ghosthunt conducted here and we welcome all to join us as we explore the historic past of the Kingsland Manor. www.kingslandmanor.org Photos by: Naomi Rivera of Looking Glass Photography www.lgphotography25wixsite.com/portfolio Dress: Diana Mahrach NYC www.Dianafabrics.com Makeup&Hair: @BrittanyMUA w Model Alexia May wearing Diana Mahrach Red illusion Dress all photos: Looking Glass Photography Hair and Makeup: Brittany Weyhrauch Blood Red Hearts on Valentine’s Day By TaraJean McDonald Red hearts and cupid arrows seem very innocent and romantic for those of us who are searching for the perfect Valentine’s card for the one’s we love. But the deep red colors we wear on this special day could be more of a reminder of the crimson blood that has been shed on February 14th so many years ago. Fifteen centuries ago Pope Gelasius declared February 14th to be St. Valentine’s Day. The stories of at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus who were put to death on this day lead us to believe that the origins of this romantic holiday revolved around the martyrdom of saints. But history tells how many years before Christianity declared Valentine’s Day a holiday, there was a very bloody beginning to one of the most popular card-sending holidays in the world. February has long been considered a month of romance. There are some very interesting mating rituals among some animal species beginning in Late March through mid February. Perhaps these coupling rituals throughout the animal kingdom impressed the Ancient Romans more than 2000 years ago to make February the best time to celebrate the feast of Lupercalia. The festival not only celebrated the coming of Spring, but it also included fertility rites and the matching of women to men for coupling for the duration of the festival and hopefully through the year into marriage. The men would meet at a sacred cave and sacrifice a goat for fertility and a dog for purification. The Roman women would willingly line up to receive this sacrificial gift from the men. Their gift was to be gently slapped with strips of fresh animal’s skins that were drenched in warm blood, covering them with the deep red color of sacrificial blood. As the day progressed the women would drop their names in a big urn in the center of the city so the single men could choose a partner perhaps through destiny. The couple would pair off to join in games and parties for the remainder of the celebration. Many of these matches would end in marriage at the end of the year. This is a far cry from Match.com to find the perfect mate, but for the single men and women of Rome this was the ideal time to meet your one true love. Bloody festivals and sacrificed saints may have began this holiday, but by the middle of the 18th century friends and lovers were exchanging small tokens of affection to celebrate this special day. So wear your red lipstick and your silky red dress on Valentine’s Day, and you decide what this intensely passionate crimson color symbolizes for you.
